FORMER pupils of a Huddersfield school have met to celebrate their 70th birthdays.

Ex-pupils of Longley Hall School at Almondbury met at the Hollins Hall Hotel in Shipley, near Bradford, to mark the occasion.

There were 12 of the original 13 classmates who met aged 11 in 1949 and studied together until sixth form.

Despite being scattered all over the world, the classmates have remained friends.

One even travelled from Majorca to make the reunion dinner.

One of the organisers was Merrell Goodall, of Netherton.

She said: “We have kept in touch over the years and remain good friends. We all hope to make our 80th and celebrate in style.”
