MUSLIMS have celebrated the end of Ramadan.

Around 500 people gathered at Cedar Court Hotel at Ainley Top for an Eid celebration.

The feast marked the end of the holy month of fasting.

The event was organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, which is based at Lower Fitzwilliam Street.

President Munir Ahmed said: “The event gave members immense pleasure, particularly young children, who took great pride in wearing new clothes, being offered sweets and money and eating specially prepared food.

“The spirit of Eid-Ul-Fitr is for Muslims to reflect on one’s condition of spiritual improvement and to move forward to even higher spiritual development.”
