A NEW charity shop aimed at supporting dogs will be opened by an Emmerdale star in Halifax.

TIA Greyhound And Lurcher Rescue is set to launch its eighth shop on King Cross Road on Saturday.

The shop will specialise in furniture and occasion wear, as well as high quality bargains – and all funds raised will go to support greyhounds.

The shop will be opened by Billy Hartman, who played Terry Woods – one of the show’s longest serving characters before he was killed off in 2011.

He will be joined by the greyhound Pim.

Pim is owned by Joanne Sewell, a descendant of Black Beauty author Anna Sewell.

When Joanne adopted Pim, she began to write Pim’s Blog which proved so popular that it was put into print.

Two books later, Pim’s blog is proving very successful and book number three is set to be completed soon.

Bucks Fizz and nibbles will be served and everyone is welcome.
