A BIRTHDAY fundraiser has raised over £1,000 for two charities.
Mary Carter celebrated her 100th birthday at the Pennine Manor Hotel with a family party. But instead of presents, the Oakes woman asked for donations to be made to charity.
The former van driver, who has four grandchildren, marked the occasion with over 50 family members.
A total of £1,100 was raised, which will be given to the HRI cancer unit and the Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
