HARD-WORKING sports centre staff have gained a top award.
The Quest leisure industry quality award was given to Huddersfield Sports Centre after this week's tough inspection.
An external inspector praised conscientious staff and long-term improvement plans.
The inspector spent two days looking at improvements made to the sports centre, interviewing its staff and learning about its varied programme of activities.
Quest, the UK quality scheme for sport and leisure, is awarded to leisure facilities that show they meet stringent standards.
Huddersfield Sports Centre's operations manager Sarah Flan- aghan was delighted with the result.
Sarah said: "It is brilliant, but we deserve it. Everybody has worked extremely hard.
"The staff in particular were praised for their good morale and their commitment to continually improve.
"They have made a major effort to improve the cleanliness of the building."
