KIRKLEES companies are being urged to look at export opportunities in North Africa.

A briefing in Bradford later this year will put the focus on Algeria – where UK exports have more than doubled in the past five years.

Trade experts said opportunities existed for UK companies supplying lubricants, agricultural machinery, education and training services, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, timber, power supply and textiles.

The briefing will be held at 9.45am on Tuesday, March 8, at the Bradford University School of Management.

A spokesman for Chamber International, which is helping co-ordinate the event, said speakers would give an insight into trading with Algeria and North Africa and explain how to avoid getting caught out by complex trade procedures, tariffs and legislation.

Delegates would get top tips on how to ensure prompt, trouble free payments for their exports, learn from specialists who help UK businesses meet Algerian product standards, understand cultural issues that need to be considered and have a chance to network.

Said the spokesman: “If you already export to Algeria and want to increase sales or if you know a market exists for your product but have been put off by the bureaucracy involved then this event is for you.”
