New Mill Male Voice Choir held a champagne celebration for members, relatives and friends at New Mill Club.

The CD, entitled In Harmony, has been organised by retiring choir secretary Bob Carrick. The 50-strong choir recorded it in September at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield.

The 17-tracks include Annie Laurie, My Love is Like A Red Red Rose, Bridge Over Troubled Waters and two pieces which were specially arranged for the choir, Irish Blessing and Hail, Smiling Morn.

Proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to choir funds.

But for people who would rather see the choir perform live, a series of concerts are being held this month.

They were guests of the Opus 1 choir at St Emmanuel's Church in Barnsley on Saturday night. Tomorrow they will perform at Normanton Church at 7.30pm.

The next concert - sponsored by CIBA Speciality Chemicals - will be at Low Moor Church in Bradford at 7.30pm next Monday.

At these two concerts they will be joined by guest singers Valerie and Geoff Littledyke.

The final concert before Christmas will be at Christ Church in New Mill on December 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale from choir members or Atkinson's butchers in New Mill.

In the new year the choir will start rehearsals for a concert with bass-baritone Sir Willard White.

The concert will be at Huddersfield Town Hall on March 18.
