A HAT-TRICK hero is celebrating after scooping three of the biggest prizes in British hairdressing.

Chris Parr, who works for Taylor's Hair Studio, in Bethel Street, Brighouse, won first prize in both the Men's High Street and Men's Colour and Blow Dry categories at the International Hairdressing Competition.

He was then crowned Men's Champion for his outstanding performance and has been approached to represent his country in Russia next year.

The 20-year-old said: "I am always very critical of my own work so I did not think it was anywhere near good enough to actually win.

"I was very shocked that I won anything, never mind all three. I am really pleased because after the National Championship this is the biggest competition."

The unisex hair studio has a long tradition of prize winning and Chris, from Bradford, puts it down to the training.

"I have been here for two years now and as soon as I started I got the best training," he said.

"We are all taught a mix of old school techniques and much more modern ones as well. I suppose that means we can cut anyone's hair exactly how they want it."

Now Chris is preparing for the biggest date in the hairdressing calendar - the Nations in Manchester on April 17.

Owner Jason Taylor, 32, is confident his protégé will do him proud.

"He worked very hard for this success and I am sure he will do brilliantly next month as well," he said.
