FANCY being the next Wayne Rooney or David Beckham?
Batley Football Centre is holding a two-day course for children dedicated to scoring goals in August.
Damian Ives, football development officer at the centre, is running the new course for budding scorers aged nine to 13-years-old. He hopes that young footballers, both boys and girls, can learn new goal-scoring skills in a fun environment.
Damian said: "This is a new initiative for us, having a two-day school that is dedicated to producing more shots on target and therefore more goals in a match situation.
"We will be practising penalty shoot-outs and also goal scoring during normal play.
"We aim to improve their techniques, balance, co-ordination and their accuracy, so this is particularly aimed at young footballers who already play for clubs - but anyone can join in.
"I am sure we are harbouring future stars like Rooney and Beckham in this area, so we just need to nurture their talent and let it flourish."
Shooting School takes place on August 17 and 18 at the third generation football pitch at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre from 10.30am until 3.30pm.
Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch and drinks or water bottle. The course costs £22.
Another course takes place on August 2 for girls aged seven to 11.
It runs from 10.30am until 3.30pm, costing £13. At the same time, Damian is holding a nursery course for boys and girls aged five to six years.
A mini soccer course is available for boys and girls aged seven to 10 years on August 3 and 4, also from 10.30 until 3.30pm, for £22.
