PEOPLE wanting to help support crime victims can go to an information day today.

The event is being held at Volunteering Kirklees at its base at 15 Lord Street, Huddersfield, between 10am and noon.

It is designed for people interested in helping support victims of crime.

The event is jointly organised by Volunteering Kirklees and Victim Support, with funding provided by Volunteering England.

Voluntary roles include mentoring, community mediators and opportunities in the witness service.

Representatives from Victim Support, Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, Pennine Domestic Violence Group and Mediation Yorkshire will be on hand to offer information and answer any questions at the event.

The open day is part of a series of events designed to help re-establish Victim Support’s presence in Kirklees. They are eager to increase the number of volunteers in the Kirklees area following a recent move back from the Bradford district.
