BIRDWATCHERS in Yorkshire have three new chances to see the county's Red Kites with the RSPB.

As part of the charity's Aren't Birds Brilliant? project, RSPB volunteers will be on hand at the Red Kite viewing platform at Eccup Reservoir near Harewood House. They will be there on weekends between 10.30am and 4.30pm from this Saturday.

The project is being run from the charity's Denby Dale office to teach people about the hawks.

Visitors to Harewood House will have a chance to see the magnificent birds from the terrace viewing point behind the house. Volunteers will provide information about the Kites on a weekend, also between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

More energetic Kite-spotters can enjoy a series of guided walks around the Harewood Estate on October 3, 17 and 31.

David Corlett, RSPB Aren't Birds Brilliant! project officer said: "The re-introduction of Red Kites in Yorkshire has been a great success.

"Following the bumper breeding season earlier this year in which 44 chicks fledged, we want to give the public an opportunity to see and learn more about these amazing birds.

"Working with Yorkshire Water at Eccup and the Harewood House Trust will enable us to do just that."
