A PLANNED visit to Huddersfield by Chancellor Gordon Brown was cancelled as a mark of respect to the Pope.
Mr Brown was due to visit Huddersfield yesterday ahead of speculation that a General Election announcement is imminent.
The Chancellor was to meet Labour activists at the Old Golf House Hotel in Outlane.
But the visit was cancelled yesterday morning following the Pope's death.
