NEW bus timetables will be introduced across West Yorkshire next month.

And the changes are expected have a big impact in Huddersfield.

No details are being released but officials of the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority have confirmed there will be many areas affected.

A spokesman said: "There will be extensive changes to services in Huddersfield where route changes will affect services in Kirkheaton/Upper Heaton, Longwood, Deighton and Bradley.

"There will also be timing and frequency changes on most First services in Huddersfield."

Bob Broxholme, commercial manager for First buses, said operators agreed on six dates in any one year when timetables could change.

Services were run on a commercial basis and had to be financially viable, he said.

Mr Broxholme said some groups of people would always be disadvantaged by timetable changes.

"But we try to minimise the effect," he said.

Comments on the service changes should go to the bus operator or to Metro on 0113 245 7676.
