Volunteer services to run on some days

MANY bus and train services will not run over Christmas.

West Yorkshire public transport body Metro has announced bus and train changes for Christmas and New Year.

On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the normal Saturday bus services will end between 6pm and 8pm.

There will be a Saturday service on most bus routes on Wednesday December 28, Thursday December 29 and Friday December 30.

A Sunday bus service will operate on Tuesday December 27 and Monday January 2.

There will be no bus services on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day, except for some community-based voluntary services.

Train services will run as normal in Yorkshire between Christmas and New Year, but there will be no train services on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

Services will end by 9pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and start after 7am on Tuesday December 27, and January 2.

Normal local services will run on Wednesday December 28 to Friday December 30 and on Tuesday January 3.

Long-distance services will be affected by engineering work in Stevenage, Doncaster and Manchester.

Metro concessionary fares, West Yorkshire Day Rover and Cheap Day return rail tickets can be used all day on December 27 and January 2 as well as during the weekends and after 9.30am on Wednesday December 28 to Friday December 30.

Passengers can also call MetroLine on 0113 245 7676. This is open daily from 7am until 10pm except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. It closes at 8pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
