HANDY hints are being offered to make people ‘food smart’ and healthy.

The new Change4Life NHS campaign provides easy meal ideas for breakfast, lunch and evening meals – all lower in salt, fat and sugar and fewer calories.

‘Be Food Smart’ will help people to make healthier choices to prevent dangerous levels of fat building up and leading to long term health conditions such as cancer, stroke, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

To stay healthy, adults should aim to eat no more than 6g of salt a day – which is only around a teaspoonful.
