BUS passengers in Huddersfield are getting a new service from next Monday.
Bus company First will launch the 339 route between Huddersfield bus station and Almondbury, via Newsome.
It will run five times a day, Monday to Saturday, via Lowerhouses, Ashenhurst and Newsome Church.
The service is being introduced as a number of changes come to bus routes in West Yorkshire.
Most are in Leeds and Wakefield, but there are also alterations to local and rural services in Marsden and Holmfirth.
Changes include:
231/232 Wakefield-Huddersfield: Monday to Saturday evening journeys on routes operated by Arriva will be run by Yorkshire Traction and re-timed.
238 Huddersfield–Skelmanthorpe–Denby Dale: Changed timetable.
240 Huddersfield–Kirkburton–Clayton West: Amended timetable.
242 Huddersfield-Lepton-Grange Moor: New service by K-Line operating hourly during the day.
262/X62 Huddersfield-Mirfield-Dewsbury-Leeds: Amended timetable.
265 Wakefield-Upper Cumberworth: The 7.30am schooldays only journey from Wakefield to Upper Cumberworth now runs as service 448 (see below). Revisions to late afternoon services from 2.20pm.
300 Penistone-Upper Denby Circular: Re-routed in Upper Denby area.
335 Marsden-Meltham-Holmfirth: Operated by JRT between Marsden and Holmfirth on evenings and Sundays only. The Sunday service is re-timed to connect with train services at Marsden.
339 Huddersfield-Newsome-Almondbury: New service by First running five times a day Monday to Saturday.
351 Huddersfield-Slaithwaite: Withdrawn.
398/399 Huddersfield-Storthes Hall Campus: New timetable.
446/448 Leeds-Wakefield-West Bretton-Barnsley/Denby Dale: Replaces services 111/113. Service 446 runs hourly from Leeds via Bretton College and new service 448 runs hourly from Leeds via the college to Denby Dale, replacing the withdrawn service 484 on that section of route.
901 Holmfirth Branch Line: New timetable.
920 Holmfirth-Hade Edge: Withdrawn.
935 Wakefield-Denby Dale-Holmfirth: Through Link: Extended to run from Denby Dale to Holmfirth in place of withdrawn service 484. A new timetable is introduced with Monday to Saturday services running via Branch Road and Bretton Lane and the evening and Sunday service going via Hollin Lane, Cliff Road and Bretton Lane. The service does not replace the withdrawn service 484 in Clayton West or Skelmanthorpe and the Sunday service will no longer go to Emley. Limited stop restrictions removed.
937 Marsden Local Service: New timetable.
X6 Leeds-Bradford-Huddersfield: On journeys to Huddersfield buses now operate via Northgate and Kirkgate instead of Viaduct Street and John William Street, observing stop K7 in Kirkgate to set down. There are some re-timings to improve reliability.
X41/X44/X48 Leeds-Wakefield-Bretton - Denby Dale: New timetable. The 4.45pm and 5.25pm journeys from Leeds are re-numbered X48 and extended to Denby Dale and the 6.53am journey from Denby Dale to Leeds also operates as service X48.
