A BUSINESSMAN has helped to raise £25,000 for charity.

Graham Leslie, founder of the Galpharm company, held a charity ball at the stadium that his company sponsors last November.

Sponsors, supporters and guests raised £25,000 for the Orchid Cancer Appeal.

The charity aims to save men’s lives from testicular and prostate and cancer through research and raising awareness of the illness.

Mr Leslie said: “The charity is important because it is a national and international organisation that does a lot of good work.

“I chose it because it is an organisation that spends little on administration and a lot on research, raising awareness and helping people.

“We all know that men don’t talk about these things, but it is important for men to know about the issue.

“Awareness is very important in doing that and I hope this donation can help to raise even more awareness of the cancer,” he added.

The charity ball was organised by Bev Centeno, Mr Leslie’s PA, and his partner Karen Brook.

Kind-hearted guests were encouraged to dig deep for the cause.

Mr Leslie went on: “It was a fabulous night and I thank everyone for their support.”
