THE family of the late Cowlersley cancer campaigner Diane Singh have presented £1,300 to the Kirkwood Hospice in her memory.

Mrs Singh, 39, died at the Dalton hospice in September after almost two years of fighting lung cancer.

Her nine-year-old son Dominic is seen presenting £1,300 to Kirkwood Hospice trustee Granville Sutton at Broad Oak Bowling Club, Linthwaite, where Mrs Singh was a member.

They are shown with organisers Dawn Fowler and Eve Miller.

The money was raised at Mrs Singh's funeral service, where £1,600 was collected and through an auction and bowling competition at Broad Oak.

The remainder of the money will be donated to cancer charities.

Mrs Singh was a keen supporter of Macmillan Cancer Relief, after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002.

She shared her story with the Examiner in a bid to raise awareness about cancer as part of a Macmillan campaign last November.

Mrs Singh was particularly keen to highlight the role of smoking in causing lung cancer and had smoked for many years herself.
