FUNDRAISERS are set to raise a cheer for charity when Marsden Beer Festival gets under way at the weekend.

Sixteen real ales will feature at the two-day event, along with cider and bottled continental lagers.

The event has been organised by Colne Valley Lions to raise money for good causes, principally the Candlelighters children's cancer charity based at Seacroft Hospital, Leeds.

Lions spokesman Rod Taylor said: "This is the third year that the festival has been held and it has become established on the local calendar. Last year, we raised more than £1,100 for charity."

The festival runs from 7pm to 11pm tonight and 11am to 11pm tomorrow at Marsden Conservative Club.

Tonight's entertainment will be provided by a group from Marsden Brass Band. Live jazz will feature throughout Saturday.
