FOOTBALLERS, rugby players, toddlers and charity workers are preparing to strut their stuff to raise money for a Huddersfield children’s hospice.
People of all ages will be taking to the catwalk on June 14 to showcase a stunning collection of clothes – all donated to local charity shops.
The fashion show – at the Galpharm Stadium – will be raising money for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice at Brackenhall.
All the clothes modelled on the night will have come from the hospice’s network of ten charity shops across Kirklees and Calderdale.
From glittering prom dresses and evening wear to beach fashions and festival-going gear, the event aims to highlight the broad variety of styles donated to its shops.
Huddersfield designer Hardy Punglia – who runs The Left Bank in Byram Arcade – will be restyling some of the clothes to create fabulous designs.
There will even be several fun-themed scenes involving local celebrities and live music to keep audiences entertained.
Mick Prescott, head of retail at the hospice, said: “The fashion show is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise awareness of our shops and products, increase the amount of stock we have to sell, and ultimately raise money to support the care of children and their families.”
Everyone who buys a ticket for the show will be encouraged to bring at least one item of clothing on the night to donate to the hospice.
A selection of the clothes will go on sale on the night and donors will be entered into a draw to win a return first class trip for a family of four to London on Grand Central Railway with a meal and overnight stay at Prego in Brighouse.
The event is being organised by The Charity Angels – a group of business experts who offer their skills to charities for free.
Founder Mandy Barwick – dubbed ‘Archangel’ – said: “In the current economic climate, businesses and individuals cannot necessarily give money to worthy causes but each has an abundance of talent and resource which can be used to benefit charities.”
Tickets for the event – which starts at 7.45pm – cost £5 and have already almost sold out. They are available from any Forget Me Not charity shop.
Volunteers and sponsors for the evening are also being sought.
