THIEVES have stolen bags of clothes destined for charity.

The raiders swiped several bags of used clothing from Far Bank Pre-School in Shelley on Wednesdaylunchtime.

The clothes, worth approximately £200, had been collected by parents and pupils to raise money for the school.

School treasurer, Carol Rowatt, said the brazen thieves drove into the school car park and loaded the bags into a white mini-bus in full view of everyone at the school.

She said: “We know this happened recently at Wakefield College too so it’s a warning to anyone else.

“People need to be aware that there’s people about taking bags and the money’s not going where it’s supposed to be going.

The pre-school, a registered charity, has been using the Bag 2 School service to help raise cash for school projects. Contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
