ITEMS for Mirfield Rotary Club’s charity auction were given the professional once-over before they go under the hammer.

Radio Leeds’ antique expert, Gary Don, cast his eagle eye over some of the lots donated to the charity auction, which was raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Gary was particularly interested in two paintings and a book, which he took away to carry out further research on.

Those items will eventually be placed in specialist auctions to get the best possible prices, and whatever they make will be returned to the Rotary Club for donating to the charity.

All the other items donated went under the hammer of amateur auctioneer Frank Wright at the Trinity Methodist church Schoolrooms, Huddersfield Road, Mirfield.

About 250 lots were up for auction on the day.
