A LEUKAEMIA charity raised £10,000 with an event in Huddersfield.

The 100ft abseil took place down Huddersfield University's Central Services building.

Jenny Lewis, the Anthony Nolan Trust's area manager, was delighted at the amount raised and that 65 people took part.

They were asked to pay a £10 registration fee and to try to raise at least £100.

The trust saves the lives of more than 400 people each year by providing volunteer bone marrow donors.

For every £70 raised it can add another potential lifesaver to its register.

To become a donor you must be aged 18 to 40, in general good health and over eight stone (51 kilograms).

A fundraising event will be held on December 4 at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough ground. There will also be a Winter Wilderness Challenge on January 15.
