A CHARITY worker is asking for people to help support the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Nick Lindley is collecting printer cartridges and mobile phones in aid of the charity.

The Birchencliffe man will recycle them, with the proceeds going to the charity.

The scheme is to support the foundation formed in memory of Scholes-born entertainer Roy, who died of lung cancer in 1994 despite having never smoked.

The foundation pays for research and also supports people with the disease.

Nick, from the Charity Recycling group, said: “Lung cancer is the UK’s biggest killer, responsible for more than 22% of cancer deaths.

“Yet it only receives 4% of cash compared to other cancers. Of that, only 1% of funding goes into researching the early detection of lung cancer and virtually all of this is from Roy’s foundation.

He is hoping schools, businesses and residents will give used printer cartridges and mobile phones to the charity.

If you want to give cartridges contact Mr Lindley at n.lindley@ntlworld.com or ring 07799 562697.
