A CHARITY is offering support this Christmas to people who have suffered the anguish of a child's death.
The Huddersfield- based Kate And Daniel Trust says the festive period and the run-up to it can be a terrible time for people bereaved in this way.
It urges them to contact the charity if they feel they need support.
The charity's project co-ordinator, Lynne Burns, said: "Coping with the loss of a child is never easy, but special occasions such as Christmas can be especially difficult for the bereaved.
"For those who have lost a child, Christmas can be a painful reminder that their family will never be the same again.
"It is also a time when the bereaved feel least able to express their feelings of grief, because everyone seems so joyous.
"It is often a time that the bereaved feel most alone."
The Kate and Daniel Trust provides support through counselling to anyone affected by the death of a child.
Ms Burns added: "Counselling provides a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment, where the bereaved can speak openly about their feelings.
"The counselling service is available each Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon and is undertaken by a professionally-trained counsellor.
"The trust provides counselling to anyone who has been affected by the death of a child, whatever their age when they died, when they died or however they died.
"It is available free to individuals and couples."
