HUDDERSFIELD real ale fans will be toasting the talents of Yorkshire's smallest breweries during the festival.

Beers and cider produced by 21 of the region's micro-breweries will be available daily, with a special tasting event on the Friday.

Real ale expert and writer Barrie Pepper will give a talk and lead the tasting session.

Beers from local breweries Eastwood, Anglo Dutch, Golcar, Riverhead, Rat and Ratchet and Upper Agbrigg will feature at the event.

The tasting gets under way at 7pm in a specially-built, 80-seater cookery demonstration theatre at St George's Square.

Tickets for the tasting cost £5 and people are advised to book.

After the tasting, ale and cider will be on sale from all the featured breweries, either in the demonstration theatre or at the nearby Head of Steam pub.

Alison Campbell, Huddersfield assistant town centre manager, said: "It should be really enjoyable. There will also be a barbecue and live music by local soul band Pink Coconut."

Tickets are available by phoning 01484 226589 or 226586.
