TEENAGERS feeling the strain of exam pressure are being offered a friendly ear.

ChildLine is reminding Huddersfield youngsters that help is at hand, as under 18s across the country prepare to sit exams.

The advice comes after figures show 175 young people called the helpline service in Yorkshire about exam pressure last year.

Christine Mellor, area manager for ChildLine in Yorkshire & The Humber, said: “The exam period can be a very stressful and anxious time for young people.

“We want to let them know that they are not alone .”

ChildLine has produced the following advice:

l Make sure you take regular breaks from revising and do some exercise.

l Go to bed at a reasonable time and try and get some sleep.

l Getting a good night’s sleep will help you much more than trying to revise all night.

l Try to think positively

l Take water into the test with you because staying hydrated will help you concentrate.

The charity has also devoted a special section of its website to beating exam stress.
