SIX youngsters are winners of the Design a Tile competition at Lindley Library.

The winning designs, along with those of 30 runners-up, will be made into ceramic tiles, to be incorporated into the library's new reading garden.

The winners of the competition and their designs are: Four years and under, Matty Wardle; age five to seven, Hasan Riaz; aged eight, Laura Thomas; aged nine, Natalie Dungan; aged 10, Olivia Travers; 11 and over, Gemma Sharp.

More than 110 entries were submitted and all of them are to be laminated and put on display in the library.

Winners in the six age groups will receive gardening books given by The Children's Bookshop, Lidget Street, Lindley, at 2pm on Friday.

On the same day, there will be a free origami workshop open to all children. It will run from 2pm to 4pm. All materials will be provided.
