CHILDREN did their bit to help victims of the Haiti earthquake by organising a day of fundraising.

The youngsters at St Aidan’s First School, in Skelmanthorpe, had a non-uniform day together with a bring and buy sale to raise funds for those whose lives have been devastated by the disaster.

Headteacher Evelyne Barrow said the school council came up with the idea, encouraging pupils to fundraise by bringing in items like books and toys to sell as well as selling refreshments and raffle tickets.

She said: “At our school we believe in helping and thinking about others so it’s great to see that being carried out by the children.”
