Hartshead J & I School is proving to be the most popular in Kirklees.
A new survey of regional schools shows that there were 4.6 applications for every place available at the primary school.
Batley Parish CE (VA) J I & N School, in Kirklees, had the joint highest numbers of first preference applications per place, at 1.8 per place, or 54 for 30 places, along with Christ Church CE Academy in Deighton, with 35 applications for 20 places.
Batley Grammar School in Kirklees saw 464 applications last year for 89 places, making it the most oversubscribed secondary school in the area. It was followed by The Mirfield Free Grammar and Sixth Form, with 3.9 times more applications than place, 859 applications for 221 places.
In Calderdale. one school is attracting nearly six applications for every place, new figures reveal.
Salterlee Academy Trust is the most oversubscribed primary school in the area, with 5.9 applications for each place, or 89 applications for 15 places. It was closely followed by Warley Town School which had 108 applications for 20 places. The North Halifax Grammar School saw 3.6 applications per place, or 560 applications for 155 places.
Heckmondwike Grammar School had the highest ratio of first choice preferences to places with 2.1 per place.
Figures for numbers of applications and offers per school come from Freedom of Information requests to councils. Some schools may not be included if they handle their own admissions process.

The deadline for applications for secondary schools is fast looming. Parents with children in year six are being urged not to miss the October 31 deadline. The deadline is the same for each council in England.
Applications received after that date will be considered ‘late applications’ and could significantly impact your choice of school.
