PARENTS in Dalton are paying the penalty for their children's sporting skills.

Pupils from St Joseph's Catholic Primary School took part in a sponsored penalty shootout in association with Huddersfield Town.

They took their spot kicks into an inflatable goalmouth which can be used indoors.

The speed of their shots was measured and children gained points for their skills.

PE co-ordinator Norlene Walsh said half the cash raised would go to the school and half to Town.

She added: "We hope we can raise more than £1,000.

"We have some very good penalty-takers at the school.

"Who knows, at a future World Cup one of our former pupils could be taking a penalty for England."
