We have been hearing reports of a serious incident at Huddersfield Leisure Centre.

Kirklees Active Leisure have informed us that the children's Splash Pool is closed until further notice following the unknown incident.

Police have also confirmed they attended the scene earlier today.

The main length pool remains open.

Ambulance Service comment

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.02pm to the leisure centre where a young girl had a medical episode. We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance and transported her to Calderdale Royal Hospital.”

Police update

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said officers were called to the leisure centre at 12.10pm to reports of concerns for the safety of a member of the public. The girl is believed to have had a medical episode which was non life-threatening and was now reported to be fine.

Eyewitness says little girl was pulled out of the water

An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said the pool alarm was triggered before adding: “They dragged a little girl out of the water and started CPR compressions.

“They cleared the pool and all staff arrived to help. Paramedics came very quickly.

“Staff supported the gentleman and boy who were with the girl. Paramedics took the girl out to their ambulance and police were also at the scene. Staff acted very quickly and efficiently.”
