A HUDDERSFIELD fish and chip shop has reopened after being given the all-clear by health inspectors.

Lockwood Fisheries, on Lockwood Road, was closed on October 12 after Kirklees Council environmental health inspectors had concerns about standards of hygiene.

They issued an emergency prohibition notice, which immediately stopped food being sold at the shop, which also sells Chinese food under the name Sheung Hei.

The notice was backed by Huddersfield magistrates on October 18.

But the inspectors have been back to the takeaway - which is owned by KKC UK Ltd - and given it a clean bill of health.

Tracey Bousfield, of Kirklees Council environmental health department, said: "When we serve an emergency prohibition notice it's because we feel there is an imminent risk of injury to health.

"Now that risk has been removed we make sure we are happy and the premises can open again. That's what happened in this case."
