TWO Honley choirs are performing charity concerts to help Heart Research UK this Christmas.

Honley Male Voice Choir and Honley Ladies Choir are taking part in the charity's Sing For Your Heart fundraising campaign, which runs from today to next Friday.

The campaign urges people to organise fundraising singing events to raise money for the Leeds-based charity's work researching heart problems.

Honley MVC will perform a 'buy as you view' concert called Christmas Fantasy at Huddersfield Town Hall tomorrow.

Guests at the concert, which starts at 7.15pm, will be able to request seasonal songs in return for donations.

Honley Ladies Choir will perform an afternoon concert at Huddersfield Parish Church from 2pm on Sunday.

They will be accompanied by the Halifax Young Singers.

Donations will also be collected at this concert.

Barbara Harpham, director of Heart Research UK, said:

"We are trying to get as many people as possible to organise a singing event to spread a bit of festival spirit .

"Nearly everyone has been touched by heart disease and singing is a great way to raise money in support or memory of a loved one."
