A CHARITY which helps multiple sclerosis sufferers is appealing for volunteers to help with its Christmas campaign.

The Multiple Sclerosis Trust wants people to help sell its charity Christmas cards in special shops around the country.

The outlets are known as Cards for Good Causes shops, because they allow different charities space to sell their cards in the run up to Christmas.

There is such a shop in Huddersfield Central Library for eight weeks before Christmas.

Each charity has to find its own volunteers to work in the shops.

Duties include keeping the shop tidy and dealing with payments, usually just for one morning or afternoon a week.

Janet Chesterton, fundraiser for the MS Trust, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for the trust. But to enable us to take advantage of the scheme we need volunteers to help in each shop."

All proceeds from the Christmas card sales will go towards the MS Trust's work, which involves educating nurses and health professionals about the degenerative disease and providing support for MS sufferers.
