THE body of a man was found in Brighouse after concerned neighbours alerted police to a strange smell.

A man in his 60s was found in a flat in Millroyd Mill in Brighouse late on Tuesday night.

Neighbours had noticed a smell coming from one of the apartments on the sixth floor and reported it to police.

Officers broke the door down and found the body of the man.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: “We were called to an address of Huddersfield Road in Brighouse at 11.36pm.

“The body of a man thought to be in his 60s was found at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and the case has been passed to the coroner.”

Police sealed the area off while they checked the scene and called the undertakers after ruling there were no suspicious circumstances.

It is thought the man lived alone.
