A Kirkburton man has appeared in court after being caught by police driving an uninsured vehicle.
Christopher Dinning, of Queens Way, admitted the offence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said that at 3am on November 18 Dinning was driving a BMW on Longley Road in Almondbury.
Police stopped him on Lowerhouses Lane and he fled.
This caused officers to suspect that the car was stolen. Further checks revealed that the 25-year-old had no insurance to drive.
This was because his licence had been revoked, although he claimed that he did not know at the time.
Dinning, who was not represented, said that he ran away because of the area he was in.
He added that he did not know that the vehicle following him belonged to police to start with.
Magistrates fined Dinning £110 and told him to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge. His licence will also be endorsed with eight penalty points.
