A TOWN centre church will hand out free hot cross buns tomorrow to get the Easter message across.

Members of New North Road Baptist Church will distribute 500 hot cross buns to passers-by from 10.30am outside the entrance of the church at Trinity Street.

They will be in special serviettes which contain the question "Why a cross on a hot cross bun?"

The minister, the Rev Dr Philip Clements- Jewery, said: "Many people walk into town to do their shopping and pass the church as soon as they come out of the underpass, so we think we have a prime site to promote our message."
