A WORLDWIDE day of prayer for victims of the Tsunami Disaster is being held tomorrow by the Mothers' Union organisation.

Women throughout the world will meet between 12 noon and 2pm on the feast of the Epiphany to pray for victims of the Tsunami Disaster which took place on Boxing Day 2004.

This will give a wave of prayer lasting 24 hours.

The Almondbury Branch of Mothers' Union will take part and All Hallows Church, Almondbury, will be open from 12 noon to 2pm. All are welcome to join the members.

Hilary Pollard, MU prayer and spirituality co-ordinator for the Wakefield diocese, said prayers were also being posted on worldwide web by the London HQ of the Mothers' Union.

And she added that Mothers' Union members in the stricken areas around the Indian Ocean were already working to help people there.

MU is the largest women's organisation in the Anglican communion with three million members in 75 countries.
