A CHURCH partnership has raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Newsome Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) raised £600 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The money was raised through its Churches Together group which organised lunches during Lent. Yesterday members presented the cash to a representative from life-saving charity, which needs £7,200 a day to keep both its air ambulances flying.

Newsome LEP is a partnership between St John’s Church, Newsome South Methodist Church and St Paul’s Church in Armitage Bridge.

Funds raised through its charity shop provides grants to local voluntary and community groups.
