BEREAVED families are being invited to a special memorial service in Huddersfield next week.

Representatives from different faiths will come together at Huddersfield Parish Church at 6.30pm on Thursday to remember those who have died.

It will be the second time the Christmas service has been held in Huddersfield.

People will be invited to place a card on a tree of remembrance and light candles in memory of their loved ones.

The service will be lead by the Rev Catherine Ogle, the Vicar of Huddersfield.

She will be accompanied by Fr Eugene McGillycuddy, of St Patrick's RC Church, the Rev Peter Hancock, of South Crosland Methodist Church, the Rev Richard Steele, of Kirkheaton Parish Church, the Rev David Humphries, of Scapegoat Hill Baptist Church, and Captain Ernie Huby, of the Salvation Army.

Mrs Ogle said: "Christmas can be a difficult time for those who have lost loved ones. We hope this service will be a gentle way in to the festive season."
