A MAN was arrested on suspicion of burglary by two members of the public.

The 33-year-old Barnsley man was spotted acting suspiciously outside a house on Knotty Lane in Lepton at 10.30pm on Monday night.

The man had parked a red Ford Escort outside the home.

A man passing by was suspicious and alerted a neighbour.

They went to investigate and chased the suspect when he ran off.

They detained him nearby.

The Barnsley man has now been charged with burglary at the house in Lepton.

He has been released on bail to appear before Huddersfield Magistrates on January 12.
