BUILDING buffs in Huddersfield got an insight into how the Millennium Dome rose from the ground.
Project manager Bernard Ainsworth, from Edgerton, told the story to Huddersfield Civic Society at a meeting at Huddersfield Technical College. He is pictured (centre) with Civic Society vice-chairman John Lockwood (left) and chairman Michael Green.
Mr Ainsworth got the construction bug after leaving school in Preston and received the OBE in February 2000 for his work on the Dome.
His other achievements included masterminding the staging of the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
