RESIDENTS in Bradley are urging Kirklees Council to clear up land that was occupied by travellers.

The travellers, in several vans, parked on the land off Bradley Road, near the Bradley Industrial Park, until they were moved on 10 days ago.

But they left behind a mountain of filth and rubbish.

One resident said: "A lot of people walk down the lane there to walk their dogs and for the pleasant views but it is in a terrible state.

"I dread to think what has been left behind but it certainly smells.

"Several of us have been in touch with the council a number of times but the rubbish is still there."

A spokesman for the council's environmental services department said: "We are currently investigating reports of the flytipping on this land.

"If it is privately owned land then we will contact the owner to get the rubbish removed."
