An old, troublesome water pipe in Cleckheaton is to be replaced and the work will take three weeks.

The work will start next Monday on the pipe that runs under the bridge decking on Whitcliffe Lane, replacing it with newer, more robust material. The current pipe is in bad condition and prone to bursting which can cause disruption to local customers.

Engineering specialists, Morrison Utility Services, will carry out the work on Yorkshire Water’s behalf.

The bridge will be closed while the work is being carried out.

A fully signed diversion route will be in place. Traffic will be diverted around Whitcliffe Road, Turnsteads Avenue, Whitechapel Road, Bradford Road and Scott Lane.

Working hours will be between 7.30am and 6pm.

Yorkshire Water Project Manager Ross Housley said: “The water pipe has burst several times in the past five years and we hope this project will reduce the risk of that happening in the future; meaning we can provide a better service to our customers. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to residents and road-users”.
