CALDERDALE Council’s Housing and Environment Services Enforcement Team says it has successfully prosecuted two men for separate incidents of fly-tipping.

Both pleaded guilty to depositing controlled waste on to land where there was no environmental permit.

Alfred Copley, 62, of Station Road, Norwood Green, Halifax, admitted depositing a small amount of garden waste into a field near his house.

Two foals were said to have unfortunately died as a result of eating yew tree clippings he had dumped.

Mr Sukvinder Bahee, 35, of Quaker Lane, Cleckheaton, admitted to depositing three black sacks of food and food container waste from litter bins outside his father’s business next to some commercial bins at a petrol station forecourt at Salterhebble Hill, Halifax.

Both men were given a conditional discharge.

Mr Copley must pay costs of £1,509.28, and Mr Bahee must pay costs of £400.

Mark Thompson, head of housing and environment said: “Calderdale Council provides sufficient facilities to allow residents to appropriately and correctly dispose of their waste.”
