One school in Kirklees got 100% across the board in its Year 6 SATs.

Clough Head School at Bolster Moor has 13 pupils who took the tests and all picked up perfect results.

Years 4, 5 and 6 are taught in the same class at the village school by Richard Coates.

The school is part of a federation of three that also includes Wellhouse Junior and Infant School at Wellhouse between Golcar and Linthwaite and Wilberlee Junior and Infant School at Slaithwaite.

Mr Coates is also the federation’s deputy headteacher.

Federation headteacher Claire Kenworthy said: “We are absolutely delighted. We have kept the high level for three years now, but particularly this year where we have achieved even better results at levels 5 and 6.

“We are fortunate to have a set of children who are always enthusiastic with a thirst for knowledge and are always wanting to improve and the teachers have high expectations of them. I’d also like to praise the strength of the teaching team across our federation.”

Andrew Blakeley, headteacher at Hopton Primary School which came second said: “There are many comparisons to be made with these tables. We often do very well and this comes down to the team ethic that we have in school. We challenge the children to succeed and when they do we challenge them some more. The pupils are outstanding learners and the parents are incredibly supportive. The teaching staff and the support staff work their socks off for the children.”

Across England, 80% of pupils achieved level 4 or above in all of reading, writing and mathematics, compared to 78% in 2014.

The results table shows each primary school, listed alphabetically within the Kirklees area.

In addition to the school name, address, postcode and type, the table lists:

  • The number of pupils on roll eligible for assessment in National Curriculum Key Stage 2 tests this year;
  • The percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 – the expected level for the age group or above in the reading test;
  • The percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 – the expected level for the age group or above in writing (this is assessed by teachers);
  • The percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 – the expected level for the age group or above in the maths test;
  • The percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 or above in both the reading and maths tests and in writing;
  • The school’s average points score. Pupils sitting the National Curriculum tests are given a set number of points for the level they achieve. Level 2 or below is worth 15 points, Level 3 is worth 21 points, Level 4 is worth 27 points, Level 5 is worth 33 points etc. A pupil’s average points score is calculated on their reading, writing and maths results and these are then used to calculate the school’s average points score;
  • The ranking within its own Local Authority which each school achieves, according to the percentage of pupils achieving Level 4 or above in reading, writing and maths. Ties are broken by the number of pupils on roll eligible for assessment in the National Curriculum tests and then alphabetically.
