HAVING nothing to do is a common complaint for teenagers.

But when you are a teenager with special needs, finding entertainment is even harder.

Fortunately, Holmfirth charity Snap - Special Needs At The Phoenix - helps. It provides a club for young people with special needs every Thursday at The Phoenix Centre.

Regular activities, such as sports, African drumming and drama workshops, take place.

Short breaks are also held.

All this means constant fundraising by the committee of parents which runs the group.

So, for Snap's next outing to Chester Zoo, the committee is hoping £750 from the Community Chest will cover the costs.

Secretary Madeleine Langdon said: "When people with special needs get older, there is very little social activity available. None of them can go out on their own.

"So our main function is to provide something for them."
