A CLUB threatened with the withdrawal of its entertainment licence has won a reprieve.

Rhythms In Indigo, on Northumberland Street, has had a new six-month licence granted by Kirklees Council Licensing and Safety Committee.

The licence will be monitored closely by the committee until it comes up for renewal.

The club can now continue to host public music and dancing from Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 3am.

Club bosses had feared that the committee would refuse permission because of objections from West Yorkshire Police and pollution and noise control officers from Kirklees Environment and Transportation Service.

The objections related to noise from the premises, but they were all withdrawn after Rhythms In Indigo vowed to make changes.
