NIGHTCLUB Heaven and Hell has pledged to keep its corner of the town centre tidy.

Pub and club flyers will no longer be littering the streets outside the club every weekend, following a deal with the police and Kirklees Council.

The management at the nightclub in New Street agreed it was time that late night pub and club operators acted more responsibly.

Staff at Heaven and Hell are now going to sweep up all the flyers from the areas surrounding the club.

A spokesman for the club said: "The main reason why we hand out flyers is that on a night time the people who are out and about are our captive audience and along with every other pub/club in this field we are all vying for their attention.

"Flyers are a great way of getting the message across to customers and on our flyers in particular there is always an incentive to keep the flyer rather than throwing it away."

But he accepted that some people do litter the streets with their marketing leaflets.

" I have seen it myself on the morning after we have been open, especially after it has rained, when some of our flyers end up stuck to the pavement and roads," said general manager Jim Barrell.
